USA: ANA American Numismatic Association

The American Numismatic Association is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to educating and encouraging people to study and collect money and related items. With nearly 33,000 members, the Association serves the academic community, collectors and the general public with an interest in numismatics.

The ANA helps all people discover and explore the world of money through its vast array of programs including its education and outreach, museum, library, publications, conventions and seminars.

USA: ANS American Numismatic Society

The American Numismatic Society is a museum and research institute devoted to the study of coins from all periods and cultures. The ANS, organized in 1858 and incorporated in 1865 in New York State, operates as a research museum and is recognized as a publicly supported organization as confirmed on November 1, 1970. The original objectives of the ANS, “the collection and preservation of coins and medals, the investigation of matters connected therewith, and the popularization of the science of Numismatics”, have evolved into the mission approved by the Society’s governing Council in 1993:

USA: Princeton University – Numismatic Collection

The Princeton University Numismatic Collection contains coins, medals and tokens, paper money, casts, exonumia – about 70,000 items in all. The collection is housed in the Rare Books and Special Collections of the Firestone Library on Princeton’s campus.

USA: Smithsonian Institution – National Numismatic Collection

The National Numismatic Collection (NNC) of the Smithsonian Institution is one of the largest numismatic collections in the world and the largest in North America. Located in the National Museum of American History, Behring Center, the NNC includes approximately 1.6 million objects. There are over 450,000 coins, medals and decorations and 1.1 million pieces of paper money (including the acquired “Confederate Treasury horde” of cancelled Confederate paper money) in the collection, highlighting the entire numismatic history of the world.
