The Digital Coins Network promotes the effective use of information technolgoy in the collection, exchange, and publication of numismatic data. It identifies existing standards that can be useful to numismatists and provides a forum for the development of new standards that meet the specific needs of the numismatic community.
Nomisma.org is a collaborative effort to provide stable digital representations of numismatic concepts and entities, for example the generic idea of a coin hoard or an actual hoard as documented in a print publication.
The conference, organised by the National Research Council of Spain (CSIC) and the Casa de Velázquez, will be held in Madrid at the Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales (CCHS, CSIC), between Monday 15th and Wednesday 17th, March 2010, with the theme ‘Barter, money and coinage in the Ancient Mediterranean’.
